Second Trimester Maternity Style

It’s incredible how pregnancy can both fly by and be so slow at the same time. I am currently 32 weeks. This little peanut’s due date is just two months from today! Second trimester went as well as any could possibly go. I was able to stay up past 9PM (thank the lord). I still got out there to run. Though these days it’s definitely morphing into a walk more than a run, but proud I’m still at it. I had a few rough days with discomfort on the top of my bump, but nothing major. Overall I have felt great. So good, I finished my sunroom, gave my kitchen a refresh and worked on the yard and took a family trip to Charleston.

As far as being ready for baby. I have a lot of work to do! I’ve shared the progress on his room. But that’s about all I’ve done. In the next two weeks I am digging into all the leftover baby stuff and evaluating exactly what we need!

This trimester I out grew most of my clothes. I really only have a handful of actual maternity clothes from Oliver. A pair of jeans, and a couple of out of season dresses is about the extent of it. I have been living in my flowy wardrobe and wearing a few pieces I kept around from the days when I first moved to New York and gained some weight. Here are three looks that have gotten me through the second trimester.

First Trimester Maternity Capsule

Well, my first trimester has come and gone! I cannot believe how fast its flying by! Still feeling good, my energy is starting to come back. My writing this at 9:22 is evidence of that! Thank goodness! Falling asleep at 9:00PM was cramping my style! I have been craving fruit and fruity candy. All the sour and fruity candy!

I wanted to share with you my first trimester maternity capsule collection. I spent the last three months hiding my bump under cozy sweaters, blazers and cardigans. In general my maternity style is very much like my normal day-to-day style, mostly classic, with a twist. In pregnancy (and life) I like relaxed silhouettes, nothing too fitted. I had to retire my favorite high-waisted Levi’s about a week after I took a pregnancy test, but I am still rocking my mid-rise Madewell jeans on repeat. The following have been my go-to looks, keeping warm while working with my baby bump. So far have not made any special purchases or have even dug into my old maternity stash. Only a matter of time though…

We're Having a Baby!

You guys! We’re creating another human!! We are so excited to finally share this news with you!! It feels like I’ve known forever and I am just so terrible at keeping secrets, so chances are if we had a personal conversation in the past month, I’ve probably told you this news!

I am about to answer all your questions, but before that, I just want to give a HUGE thank you to Alyssa McElheney for taking the most precious photos of our growing family!! She is amazing and if you are local to Grand Rapids you should hire her for any of your photography needs.

We had been trying for a few months, so it happened pretty quickly, but not nearly as quickly as it happened with Ollie. Speaking of Ollie, he is super excited to tickle the new little baby’s feet and has already been ooo-ing and ahhh-ing over how cute everything baby-related is. He has been hugging and kissing my belly unsolicited and telling me that he’s “giving the baby love.” He also talks about his big brother duties all the time. I know he is going to be amazing!!

I am 13 weeks along and due in September! Officially out of my first trimester, so this is going really fast!! Just as with Ollie, I am feeling good. I didn’t have any morning sickness, just some cramps, bloating and discomfort. I feel like I’m showing so much more, so much quicker this time. Before I took the test, right after the holidays, I was so bloated, my favorite high-waisted jeans were feeling so uncomfortable. Needless to say, I had to retire them two months ago! I have been trying to maintain my exercise regimen, however the weather and icy sidewalks has curbed much of my running, which has been really rough for me. So for now, I am riding our in-home exercise bike, doing Tone It Up videos and when I can make it, the classes at the gym.

We do plan on finding out what we are having and will do so mid-April.
