Top 2020 Wedding Trends

It’s happening, 2020 weddings are under way. I had two venue walk throughs this week and we are making plans, figuring logistics and bringing couple’s visions to life. I spend a lot of time on wedding blogs, Pinterest and even trend forecasting sites. In my browsing and chatting with couples, a few clear trends have jumped out at me. Here are the top wedding trends I see emerging and growing in 2020. Scroll and let me know if you agree!

Top 2020 Wedding Trends

MONOCHROMATIC PALLETTES

This trend is a little different than only white flowers and lots of greenery, my number one ask in recent wedding seasons, instead, a monochromatic color palette is thoughtful layering of colors in the same family. This shows the neutral family, but we’ve seen beautiful tablescapes with layered shades of pink or terracotta. This look is an exciting, modern way to do color.

TERRACOTTA DETAILS

Speaking of terracotta, this pedestrian material is chic again. From basic Home Depot pots, to handmade pottery terracotta - the color and the material - will be everywhere this wedding season and we are here for it!

COLORED BABY’S BREATH

He have definitely seen an uptick in the baby’s breath requests. We still love the natural white, a true classic, but our forward couples are loving the colored baby’s breath.

BRIDAL BLAZERS

If the colored baby’s breath is for the trendy brides, the bridal blazer is for the cutting edge bride. A sophisticated take on the relaxed jackets we’ve been seeing in recent years. I would die if a bride came out in this look as a chic exit outfit.

GRID DISPLAY

These retail displays are popping up everywhere. They are great for welcome signs, ceremony backdrops, escort card displays and even hanging floral installations. They are functional and the geometric grid is a great modern element.

DRIED FLOWERS

Pampas grass is not going anywhere, instead the assortment widens to include many varieties of dried florals. We love that the boho look has taken a turn in this direction. Check out my dried floral resource post here!

RETURN OF COLOR!

Color! I try to suppress my love for a vibrant color palette, but I can’t hide it! I love the variety and creativity the expansion of color brings to the table. As I mentioned, so many of my weddings have been white, blush and sage, and I’m here for that too, but excited to see some happier palettes!

INTIMATE WEDDINGS

From elopements to immediate family, intimate weddings are on the rise. More and more couples are opting not to drop $30k+ on a wedding and instead, have a small, beautiful celebration with those closest to them and put that money toward a home or traveling.

SUSTAINABLE WEDDINGS

The message of climate change is penetrating the wedding industry in a big way! From recycling services to vegan dinners to sourcing second hand, the generation marrying in 2020 is more conscious and that is something we should all be here for.
